World Masters Championship, Austrailia

20 November 2016

Martin Ford has recently been competing in the World Masters Athletics Champs in Perth. With no expectations of medals in Australia, as being 73 he was over halfway into the 70-74 age category, Ford won an individual bronze and team silver medal in the cross country on the first day of competition. This was followed by a fourth place in the 5000m, another bronze in the 10000m which was run in temperature of 32C and a third bronze in the half marathon where he beating the top Australian by just five seconds. This performance also helped the GB team to marathon gold to cap a great championship for the Cheltenham athlete who wasn’t beaten by anyone older than him in any of the events.
