Phil Wylie came home from the British Athletics Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships with a team gold medal as he helped the North East Counties team to take victory at the event in Loughborough. The Cheltenham runner was the fourth scorer for their six-man winning team as he finished the 12km testing course in a pleasing 23rd place. Dan Owen made a welcome return to race action and led the Gloucestershire team home in 14st place, with his Harriers team-mate Dave Aubrey the second county team member home in 239th position. Corin Hughes and Matt Evans enjoyed the opportunity to gain county vests as they finished in 267th and 277th respectively. In the ladies race Vickie Wilkinson crossed the line in 165th place to finish as the second Gloucestershire runner home, just six places and ten seconds behind Cirencester’s Wendy Nichols, whilst Sarah Sheppard took 208th position. In the under 20m men’s race Jacob Pickering and Ben Williams finished 74th and 99th respectively.

Fee Maycock showed good form at the Bath Half Marathon to finish as third LV45 runner home in 84:29 whilst further Harriers veteran success came as Martin Ford took the V70 win in 93:01. Elliot Prince had earlier recorded a time of 79:09 whilst Susan Mair lowered her personal best to 1:46:47. At the Berkeley 20/20 Fission road race Andy Gardiner finished eighth in the 20 mile event in 2:06:43 whilst Paul Horsfall opted for the 20km race where he was first home in 78:05. Mia O’Connell made a pleasing return to action after a long injury absence at the Cannon Hill parkrun in Birmingham where she finished as first lady home in an impressive 17:49 to take twelfth overall. There were also parkrun wins for Dave Tomlin (17:22) at the Kingsway event in Gloucester and for Marc Fallows (17:29) at Chipping Sodbury where Tom Keylock (18:38) finished sixth. Gareth Edwards (18:59) took second place in Cheltenham and James Wilkinson (19:27) finished third at Tewkesbury whilst Ian Giles (20:13) and Mike Ede (20:18) placed sixth and seventh respectively at the Gloucester North parkrun.
