Will New led the Cheltenham Harriers runners home at the Winston’s Wish 4 mile event held on Boxing Day at Cheltenham Racecourse. Whilst Stroud’s Brett Haliwell took the honours and retained the Peter Holmes Cup in memory of the former Harrier, New finished in third place as he finished ahead of teammates Andrew van Kints and Jack Mundinano who came home fourth and fifth respectively. Russell Forsbrook crossed the line in seventh position and Rachel See was the first lady home. The Christmas weekend also saw club athletes enjoy parkrun success with Dave Tomlin winning the Cheltenham Christmas Eve event in 17:19 where Darren Jones (18:44) and Dave Hemmings (20:58) also enjoyed a festive run out. Hermione Brewster was the second lady home in 22:09, with Isabel Ovens (22:44) and Katerina Horrocks (23:01) placing fifth and eighth respectively. Christmas Eve also brought wins for Phil Wylie in a course record of 15:19 at the Rockingham event in Australia, Phil Beastall in 16:25 at Tewkesbury and Andy Gardiner with 17:37 at the Grangemoor event in Cardiff. Andy Prophett (17:43) finished second in the Hanley parkrun in Stoke and Ian Giles (20:28) finished third at the Gloucester North event. The Cheltenham Christmas Day parkrun saw Matt Evans (18:39) and Steve Hall (18:49) place second and fourth respectively and Katerina Horrocks (22:12) finished as the fourth lady home.
