Richard de-Camps finished 2015 with a personal best as he contested the Nos Galan 5k road race in Mountain Ash. The New Year’s Eve night-time event in South Wales always attracts a high quality field, with middle distance and cross country runner de-Camps contesting his only road race of the year. The 25 year old ran well to knock two seconds off his previous best tim ,set at the same event in 2013, as he placed twentieth in 15:48 in a race won by Welsh International Dewi Griffiths of Swansea in 14:17. de-Camps’ time placed him twelfth on the 2015 Cheltenham Harriers combined road and track rankings for 5km which were headed by Graham Rush’s 14:09.19 set on the track at Watford. The depth of the Harriers squad is highlighted by the fact that sixteen runners ran sub 16 minutes and a further thirteen broke 17 minutes during the calendar year. Having previously won the race in 2009 and 2013 Jeremy Bradley won the Severn AC New Year’s Day 5 mile road race at Elmore in a time of 27:36 for a comfortable win ahead the host club’s Oliver Starkey. For the second consecutive weekend Harriers filled the first three places at the Cheltenham parkrun with Alex Lee claiming his twelfth win at the Pittville Park event in 16:43. Alex Chantler-Mayne followed in 17:44 and Luke Kearns took third place with an 18:04 clocking. George Watson and Jacob Pickering placed sixth and seventh with times of 18:15 and 18:36 respectively. The New Year’s Day Hanley parkrun in Stoke saw Andy Prophett take first place in 18:17.
