County Championships Day 3, Brighton Marathon + Chedworth 10mile

17 September 2021

Gloucestershire County Championships

The third day of the Gloucestershire County Championships took place on the 10th of September, featuring the Mile, 10000m and relay events. Evie and Olivia Avery represented the Harriers in fine style taking a fantastic 1-2 in the U13 mile. Evie took the gold in 5:50.2, 18sconds faster than her 1500m PB and Olivia was just behind in 5:52.7, both athletes were making their event debuts.

Brighton Marathon

After coming 2nd M50 in the Cheltenham Half last, equalling the club M50 5000m record on two days later, the unstoppable Andy Gore then rounded off a tough week of racing at the Brighton Marathon. Gore ran incredibly well placing 1st M50 and 25th overall in 2:55.37 on a course that was eventually found out to be over 500m too long. This means he has now run 13+ marathons under 3hours.

Chedworth 10mile Trail Race

Ross Swain was the only Harrier who took part in the Chedworth 10mile trail race, a tough multi-terrain course through some beautiful Cotswold landscapes. Swain held his own and ran a brilliant race to Finnish 20th overall in 1:22.39.
