Mollie Courtney had a successful; start to 2016 as she lowered her 60m hurdles personal best and Cheltenham Harriers club records at the London Games. Seeded to run in the fastest 60m hurdles heat, against mainly senior athletes, the 18 year old placed second setting a new PB of 8.41s. Not only did this smash her previous Harriers senior and under 20 records by 0.23 seconds, but places her twelfth on the UK under 20 all-time list for event, ahead of some now famous names. Courtney went on to demonstrate great consistency by running her second race of the day in 8.42s to secure her the number one spot in the UK under 20 2016 rankings and fifth place in the senior lists. It was the ideal season opener for the Dave Warner coached athlete as she prepares to defend her indoor title in the England age-group championships in mid-February and to compete against the best of the UK in the indoor British Championships at the end of the month.
