Graham Rush’s fine recent form has been rewarded with selection for the England team to race at the Armagh 5k in 2017. This will be Rush’s debut for his country on the road having previously represented England in a cross country race in January this year.
Marcus England enjoyed a race win over a challenging course at Newent 9.5km road race. Taking the lead in the opening mile England ran a solo race to cross the line victorious in 33:43. Fellow Harrier Andy Gardiner finished second in 35:21 just four seconds ahead of Black Pear’s Neil Laurenson. There was also success for a trio of Harriers at the Swindon 10k where Dave Tomlin was the first veteran home in 34:57 for fourth place overall. Just four seconds later Ben Colabella enjoyed a fine debut over the distance to take fifth place before Fee Maycock was the third lady home in 39:52. Alex Lee meanwhile faced windy conditions on the South Coast as he finished fifteenth in the Gosport Half Marathon in 75:44. The weekend’s Cheltenham parkrun saw three harriers pack tightly from fourth to sixth with Matt Evans (18:46) finishing just ahead of James Wilkinson (18:52) and Andy Gardiner (19:08) before Dave Hemmings (21:02) crossed the line. Dave Aubrey (17:13) took third at the Cardiff parkrun and Isabel Ovens (22:52) was fourth lady home at the Exeter Riverside parkrun.
