Shona Crombie-Hicks made it two road race wins out of two in a Cheltenham Harriers vest by finishing as first lady in the Staverton 10 mile road race. Going off in a group of men, the former Commonwealth Games marathon runner was unchallenged at the front of the ladies race as she went on to complete the course in a time of 64:10, finishing over two minutes clear of second lady Liza Barry of CLC Striders. Anthony Bailey led the Harriers men’s team home in fourth place, with a 57:12 clocking that saw him finish as the leading veteran athlete. Marcus England finished 26 seconds later to take fifth position before Roger Mullins came home as third veteran with 59:05 for ninth place overall. Elliot Prince had finished 94th in the previous day’s 12km Midland Cross Country Championship in Loughborough, but still managed to record a time of 62:08 as he finished sixteen seconds clear of Gareth Edwards. James Wilkinson (65:05) and Richard Birch (65:46) followed before Vickie Wilkinson finished as eighth lady in 70:18, holding off teammate Paul Barnes who was the leading V55 runner with 70:26. Debbie Smith completed the Harriers ladies team as she finished as second LV45 runner in 74:13. In America Rhys Park lowered his 3000m to 8:16.1 as he represented Boise State University at the UW Invitational indoor meeting in Seattle where he placed ninth in the B race. Also on the track Richard de-Camps finished sixth in the 1500m at the Welsh Indoor Championships in Cardiff with a time of 4:02.80. Earlier in the week Darren Jordan was second veteran home in the Aztec West 5k road race in Bristol where he placed eleventh in 16:38, with Roger Mullins third veteran runner in 17:20. Weekend parkruns saw Gavin McCaugherty finish first at the Arrow Valley event in Redditch in 17:31 whilst Dave Roper earned second place at Fulham Palace event in 16:27, a position matched by Mark James’ 19:05 at the Kingsway parkrun in Gloucester.
