Cheltenham Harriers ladies enjoyed a good week as there were road race victories for both Fee Maycock and Megg Brinley. Contesting the Cricklade Half Marathon, Maycock ran alongside the leading lady for two miles before pulling clear and then running isolated for most of the race. In Her first half marathon of the year the veteran marathon runner recorded a pleasing time of 86:33 as she finished 35 seconds clear of second lady Jinny Jones. Brinley continued her fine recent form with a win and a personal best at the Aztec West 5k road race in Bristol. The sixteen year old ran an excellently paced race to move through the field from third lady after the opening kilometre. Taking 29 seconds off her personal best, Brinley stopped the clock at 17:52 to comfortably win the ladies race as she finished 35 seconds clear of Bristol’s Fiona Marks. In the same race Darren Jordan finished sixteenth and as third veteran runner home in 16:46.

Dave Aubrey continued to build on his improved recent form with a time of 77:36 at the Cardiff Half Marathon. Gareth Edwards meanwhile battled against strong winds in the Bournemouth 10k where he recorded 39:26, a time that Lee Groenewegen beat by a single second at the Shelton Striders 10k in Derby. The Cheltenham parkrun saw Phil Beastall take a comfortable win in 16:37 whilst in third place Marcus England lowered his best time on the course to 16:57. Steve Hall (19:02), Matt Evans (19:05), Michael Horrocks (20:46, Chloe Hawling (23:26) and Michael Imeson (25:14) also enjoyed a run out at the Pittville Park event. The wet conditions made the grass course at the Newent parkrun where Andy Gardiner won in 19:12 more challenging, with James Wilkinson experiencing similar conditions on his way to second place in a course PB of 18:40 at the Tewkesbury parkrun. Vet 50 athlete Dave Hemmings took sixth place in 20:58 at the Hereford parkrun.
