A healthy number of Harriers competed for Gloucestershire in the South West Schools Combined Events Championships held at the Exeter Arena last weekend.
In the U15G's, Jessica Duncton, competing in her very first pentathlon, performed superbly well, setting a new club record, previously held since 1999.
Winning her heat, Duncton recorded a 12.23s 75m Hurdles clocking and new legal PB, she followed up with a new PB of 7.87m in the shot, a 1.38m PB in the High jump a 4.67m long jump before concluding with a confident 800m in 2m 32.35, finishing 7th overall with 2667 points and new club record.
Duncton's training partner, Issy Imeson, finished in 11th Place with 2456pts which included a 10.22m PB in the shot and a 4.53m PB in the Long Jump.
Alice English performed very well achieving PB's in the 75mH with a 13.55s clocking, a 7.12m PB in the shot and a 4.59m PB in the long jump. English finished in 16th with 2320pts.
Maddie Carnes threw a PB of 7.34m in the shot, finishing in 19th place with 1885pts.
In the U15B's, Joe Coley was the stand out performer for the county, finishing 2nd with 2514pts.
Coley set a new 80mH PB with a 12.43 clocking, a 10.33m PB in the shot, a 1.65m high jump PB a 5.10m long jump and a new PB of 2m 20.70 in the 800m. Coleys final placing sends him through to the national finals in September.
Archie Cross finished 13th with 1802pts, which included an 8.62m PB in the shot and a 2m 24.86 PB in the 800m.
Sam Broderick scored 1800pts finishing 14th with a new 1.56m PB in the high jump and a 4.94m PB in the long jump. Chayse Hamilton finished 19th with 992pts with a 1.47m PB in the high jump.
In the U17W's heptathlon, Gemma Veal started the competition well with a 12.98s clocking in the 80mH. A below par HJ of 1.38m set her back before recovering with a 9.23m PB in the shot. Veal then finished Day 1 with a 28.39s clocking in the 200m.
Day 2 saw Veal perform superbly well, a 4.88m PB in the long jump was followed by a huge PB of 27.11m in the Javelin. Veal finished off the competition with a superb run in the 800m, clocking 2m 30.79 claiming 8th place overall with a new PB of 3848pts.
Jodie Burnett - Hockey started her competition superbly well with a new 80mH PB of 13.72s. She followed this up with a new 1.50m PB in the high jump and a 7.80m PB in the shot. Burnett - Hockey finished Day 1 with a 28.75s clocking in the 200m.
Day 2 saw Burnett - Hockey record a 4.34m long jump, a 27.88m Javelin throw before finishing with an 2m 47.02 clocking in the 800m claiming 15th place with a new PB of 3479pts.
Izzy Kiey - Thomas was forced to withdraw from the competition following the very first event following a quad strain.
