Birmingham and Midland Women's Cross Country League - 13/11/21

18 November 2021

The first round of the Birmingham Cross Country League and Midland Women’s Cross Country League required our athletes make a long trip up to Crewe, but not to be deterred the team stuck together to ensure a strong team spirit and fantastic racing atmosphere.

In the men’s race Chris Wagstaff made a fantastic league debut, running brilliantly against tough competition to finish 50th in 32:50. A battle ensued between the next two Harriers, Andy Gore and Roger Mullins. The pair finished just 4 seconds apart with Gore taking the victory this time around in 127th with Mullins in 130th. Martin Foster and Harrison Miles were also making their league debuts and ran amazingly well to finish in 146th and 149th respectively. There were also strong runs by Elliot Prince in 166th, Matthew Evans in 183rd and Kevin Spillman in 203rd. Overall the team finished in 16th, a solid start to the season in the top Division of the League.

The women were also competing in the top Division and our three athletes put on determined performances for the club. Despite little training recently Hillary Mott still ran a brilliant race to finish as first Harrier in 88th overall. Vickie Wilkinson and Lucy Goode did the club proud, finishing in 120th and 224th.
