Worcester Open, 18/7/13

Ryan Ellis threw a personal best of 47.37m as he won the under 17 javelin at the Worcester Open to move up to 47th in the UK rankings for his age group. Further javelin success came in the under 20 event where Will Sage took first place with 49.02m before going on to win the high jump with a pb of 1.81m. In the discus Hugh Walton won the men’s event with a pb of 37.71m whilst Melissa Bird won the under 15 girls event with a throw of 33.52m.There were under 15 pole vault victories for both Nathaniel Hatherley and Georgia Wray with clearances of 2.60m and 2.30m respectively whilst Linton Gardiner won the under 17 competition with a season’s best vault of 3.70m. Gardiner also set a pb of 23.4 seconds as he placed second in the 200m and Mia O’Connell set a pb of 60.7 for third place in the under 20 women’s 400m.
