White Horse 5k, 19/7/12

There was a second place finish for Dave Roper at the White Horse 5k road race in Gloucester. Roper, along with Oli Mott (Bristol), Rhys Park (Bristol) and John Parker (CLC) soon established themselves at the front of the field as the four members of the Dave Newport training group dominated the race. Parker slipped off the pace at around halfway and Park followed suit at around two miles. With approximately one kilometre to go Mott pulled clear of Roper to claim a five second victory as Roper crossed the line in 15:05. Will New was the second Harrier home in ninth in a pleasing 16:22, with Andrew Kaighin coming home thirteenth in 16:35. Vet 50 runner Martin McGreary ran a time of 18:21, Sam Wickham ran 18:32 on his Harriers debut, whilst Dave Hemmings and Gavin Cotter clocked season’s best times of 19:31 and 20:27 respectively.
