White Horse 5k, 17/5/12

Andy Prophett continued his comeback with a victory in the White Horse 5k road race in Gloucester. Prophett chose to sit in the four man chasing pack as Severn AC’s Kyran Hale opened an 80m lead in the first mile of the race. Around the 2k mark Prophett and Andy Renfree (Cornwall) picked up the pace and gradually closed in on Hale before catching him with about a kilometer to go. The trio remained together until the final 200m where they were joined by Harry Bishop (Severn) in a four way sprint for the line. Prophett was the first to kick and quickly opened up a decisive two second gap over Hale to take the win in 16:06. Bishop and Renfree finished a further three and five seconds back respectively with the Harriers Russell Forsbrook isolated in fifth in 16:33.
