There were three wins for Beck Phillips as Cheltenham Harriers under 15 and under 13 team opened their Youth Development League season with second place in the second division of the Midland Premier League at Milton Keynes. Competing in the under 15 boys events Phillips set three personal bests to win the discus with a distance 32.12m, hammer with a throw 28.27m and shot with a putt of 10.05m. Further throws success in the age group came in the girls events where Melissa Bird won the shot with a pb of 10.05m and discus with 31.30m whilst also placing second in the hammer with 29.25m. On the track Nathaniel Hatherley claimed two wins and personal bests with 12.6 seconds in the 80m hurdles A race and a time of 12.4 in the 100m B race. Ellie Wanklyn lowered her 75m hurdles pb to 12.1 for second place and Dominic Bliss won the 200m B race with a 25.3 clocking.
In the under 13 events George Williamson took victory in the 100m and placed second in the 200m in a pb of 28.5 seconds. Oliver Powell won the 1500m in 4:52.0 and the 75m hurdles B race in 15.8 after Rob Worman had placed second in the A race in a time of 15.0. Worman also won the B shot competition with a distance of 6.70m whilst Alex Eaglestone cleared 1.35m for victory in the high jump. A final victory of the afternoon came in the 4×100m relay where the team of Powell, Williamson, Jaden Maddock and Alex Hards took the honours in 57.1 seconds.
