Anthony Bailey ensured that he won the Gloucestershire Road Race Series individual title and that Cheltenham Harriers took the series team award at the Tewksbury 5 mile road race. In the final race Bailey placed third behind Swansea’s Chris Carpinini and Severn’s Harry Bishop in a time of 27:01. Teammates James Miller and Andrew Kaighin both ran isolated races to finish fourth and fifth in 27:32 and 27:45 respectively. James Bingham (28:06) out sprinted Andy Prophett (28:08) and Bourton’s Mike Smith, as the Harriers duo finished in seventh and eighth places. Dave Rantell was eleventh overall and third veteran home in 29:01 as he finished the series in third place overall and second in the 40-44 age group. Steve Linton ran a time of 30:08 before 70 year Martin Ford was the first over 55 runner home in 30:16. Dave Hemmings clocked 30:47 to take series silver in the 45-49 age group before junior Jacob Pickering came home in 31:58. Paul Barnes ensured series silver in the 50-54 age group with 33:00 before Ken Buckle clocked 38:59 to take series gold in the over 70s category and Sam Pickering completed the course in 39:19.
