Mollie Courtney continued her preparations for the England under 20 Championships later in June with two races in the 100m hurdles at the Bedford International Games on Sunday. Running in mixed races with senior athletes it was really a battle between the U20 girls who occupied three of the top four places on the U20 rankings for this season. In the first series race, the finishers were in order of the U20 rankings with Courtney finishing fourth overall, behind two seniors and an U20 athlete, in a respectable time of 14.09s. However in the second series race Courtney held her form as one of the U20 athletes crashed out in the next lane at the first hurdle. She was placed third overall behind the seniors in an improved time of 14.02s. At the end of the day Courtney was satisfied with her performances, “It would have been nice to get another PB but conditions weren’t that great. I was pleased to have two consistent runs and maintain my ranking”.
