Chris Bell-Hartley set a new Cheltenham Harriers under 15 record for the 75m hurdles as he took gold in the South West Schools Championships in Exeter. His wind assisted time of 11.34 seconds was the fastest in the UK this year, but it is ineligible for the national rankings in which he remains second with a legal best of 11.51. There was also set a club record for Imran Quereshi as he moved up to fourth in the UK under 15 long jump rankings with a 6.19m victory in long jump. A third gold in the age group came through Melissa Bird who won the discus with 32.01m whilst Ben Clarke ran a 200m club record of 23.47 to take bronze.
The Harriers also took three golds in the under 20 events with victories for Emily Pascoe with a 15.09 clocking in the 100m hurdles, Hannah Foward with 60.10 in the 400m and Danielle Bird with 40.06m in the hammer. There were silver medals for Rob Wallace with 54.01 in the hammer, Liam Downer with 53.74m in the javelin and Adam Peachey with a personal best of 22.61 in the 200m.
In the under 17 girls events Katy Townsend took long jump gold with a pb of 5.20m whilst Mollie Courtney set a wind assisted pb of 11.91 to win the 80m hurdles. In the shot Annabel Sherry took gold with 12.84m and Millie Wood claimed bronze with 10.20m, with Sherry also taking discus silver with 33.59m. There were silver medals for Megan Bishop who set a pb of 45.61 in the 300m hurdles, Kira Cooper who threw a javelin pb of 33.95m and Anna Martin with a 1.59m clearance in the high jump. Rhys Lloyd claimed 800m bronze in a pb of 2:00.64 whilst there were also third places for Louis Mernagh with 48.22m in the javelin and Adam Dove with 35.62m in the discus.
