At the South West Championships in Exeter Ben Clarke set a new under 15 Harriers club record of 23.39 seconds as he claimed the silver medal. Clarke also placed second in the 100m with an 11.7 clocking. In the senior events Julia Cooke won the women’s 800m in 2:15.64 and took bronze in the 400m in 59.24. Jamie Horder won the men’s 400m hurdles in 55.35 before going on to run a time of 50.61 in the 400m. There was also a win for Ashley Barker in the high jump with 1.87m whilst Helen Hanstock claimed a shot silver with 10.00m. Jamie Courtenay finished third in the shot with 12.03m as well as registering a season’s best of 35.08m in the discus. Vet 55 athlete Jane Horder continued her build up to the European Masters Championships with a season’s best of 49.30 in the 300m hurdles.
