Will Sage won the men’s javelin with a personal best of 49.50m as Cheltenham Harriers hosted the first of their Midsummer Open Meeting at the Prince of Wales Stadium. Sixteen year old Sage, who won the air cadets national title last weekend, now lies thirty-first in the UK under 20 rankings. On the track Dan Owen lowered his 800m personal best to 1:57.6 as he won the men’s 800m with a well-timed finish. In the same race Harry Mahoney was the first under 17 home in a pb of 2:01.0 and Carsten Adams ran a pb of 2:01.5. Shannon Carroll was the fastest lady in the 800m as she lowered her pb to 2:25.3, whilst Charlotte Lawson won the discus with 28.06m and under 17 athlete Anna Martin claimed the women’s javelin with 25.58m.
In the under 17 age group there was a double victory for Linton Gardiner with 3.50m in the pole vault and 28.30m in the discus, whilst Adam Wheeler won the triple jump with a distance of 11.79m. Harriet Sawle claimed a sprint double as she took the 100m in 13.0 seconds and the 300m with a 44.7 clocking. Under 15 sprint victories came from Stephanie Beardsmore with 13.4 in the 100m and Georgia Gordan with 27.4 in the 200m. In the same age group there were wins for Scott Jones and Mia Collins with 36.21m and 19.38m in the discus. Ryan Ellis won the javelin with 42.74m and Jack Roberts took the triple jump with 10.16m. In the under 13 age group Tom Dawson claimed the 100m in 13.7 and 200m in 29.1 whilst Millie Moore won the girl’s 100m in 14.4 and Ellie Wanklyn won the javelin with 22.35m.
