There were impressive 800m victories in personal best times from youngsters Oliver Powell and Bethan Samuel as Cheltenham Harriers hosted the first of their Midsummer Open meetings. Powell won the under 13 boys race in 2:24.2 to move up to 52nd in the national rankings whilst Samuel took the girl’s race in 2:31.1 to earn 60th place in the national lists. In the same age group Rob Worman claimed wins with 14.2 in the 100m and a 20.37m pb in the javelin. The senior events saw Julia Cooke as the fastest lady over 800m with a 2:11.6 clocking and under 20 athlete Will Sage win the javelin with 49.60m. Harriet Sawle was the faster under 20 woman in the 400m with a time of 63.8 seconds. The under 17 age group brought victories for Adam Wheeler with 11.87m in the triple jump and Anna Martin with 27.33m pb in the javelin. In the under 15 age group Melissa Bird warmed up for the English Schools Championships with a 32.97m discus win and In the same age group there were pole vault victories for Nathaniel Hatherley with a 2.50m clearance and Georgia Wray with a height of 2.20m.
