English Champion Neil Crossley threw 69.11m to win the men’s javelin as Cheltenham Harriers hosted the second of their Midsummer Open Meetings at the Prince of Wales Stadium. Vet 40 athlete Michael Gardiner clocked 23.1 seconds to beat his younger rivals in the 200m whilst Hannah Foward won the women’s 200m with a 26.9 clocking and Annabel Sherry won the shot with 11.99m. Top performances in the under 20 age group came from Dan Owen with 4:01.03 in the 1500m and Will Sage with 45.75m in the javelin. In the under 17 events there were wins for Linton Gardiner with 31.36m in the discus, Mark Eynott with 24.2 in the 200m and Harriet Sawle with a 13.2 in the 100m. Ben Clarke claimed a sprint double in the under 15 age group, winning the 200m in 24.6 before clocking 12.0 in the 100m, whilst Jessica White took the 1500m honours in a personal best of 5:22.2. In the throws there were wins for Scott Jones with a pb of 12.96m in the shot, Ryan Ellis with 38.47m in the javelin and Melissa Bird with 28.18m in the discus. In the under 13 events Ellie Wanklyn claimed two wins with a 23.25m throw in the javelin and 7.77m in the shot.
