The Harriers travelled to Coventry for the first Midland Senior League, with the team working together to fill in on events. Cheltenham came in joint 4th but there were only 15 points separating 2nd to 5th place. Most notable performance of the day was Neil Crossley’s Javelin throw of 70.31m as he hopes to qualify for the Commonwealth Games later this year. Jess Collins and Ruth Bird both did 7 events with Mel Bird and Steph Beardsmore also doing maximum events for their age group with Mel throwing 35.24m in the Shot for a personal best and Steph equalling her pb in the 100m.
There were a lot of pbs throughout the afternoon with Tom Clarke doing 11.6 for the 100m and 23.4 for the 200, Dmitriy Nazarenko winning his 1500 race in 4.15, Scott Leyland doing the 2000m steeplechase in 7.01, Jack Roberts doing 53.6 for the 400m and 24.0 for the 200m, Imran Quereshi triple jumping 12.30m and Dan Owen running 5000m in 15.37.7. Bethan Skuse equalled her pb of 61.9 in the 400m, Adam Peachey equalled his 100m pb of 11.2. Jo Wilkie and Rachel Slee doubled up in the 3000m and 1500m with strong performances. In the men’s middle distance events there were Harriers track debuts for Mike Gray and Alex Bampton.
