There were victories for Annabel Sherry, Dave Roper and Neil Crossley in the Midland League Division One fixture in Nottingham as Cheltenham Harriers secured third place in the final league standings. In the discus sixteen year Sherry claimed an impressive victory over her senior rivals as she threw a personal best of 37.77m to improve her own Harriers senior and under 17 club records. Millie Wood ensured maximum discus points as she won the B competition with a throw of 30.65m. The pair also scored well in the shot where Sherry placed second with 12.38m and Wood won the B event with 9.94m.
Roper secures the only Harriers A string victory on the track as he followed up his 5000m win in the last fixture by claiming maximum points in the 3000m with a new personal best time of 8:35.0. There was a double Harriers victory in the javelin as Crossley threw 65.61m for the win and Ian Barough claimed the B event with 43.03m. Former decathlete Crossley had a busy afternoon as he picked up valuable points in a range of events which including a second place in the high jump where Rupert Dickinson won the B event as both athletes cleared 1.70m.
Jamie Horder had an excellent afternoon as he took half a second off his 400m hurdles personal best with a 54.4 clocking for second place in the A race. He also won the 400m B race with a pb of 50.3 and set a 100m pb of 11.4 seconds. Further 400m hurdles success came in the women’s events as Jane Horder ran a season’s best of 69.7 for third in the A race and Hannah Foward ran a personal best of 70.3 in the B race. Bethan Skuse won the 400m B race in 63.1 and Lauren Oswald finished third in the 200m A race in 26.5. Molly Courtney placed third in the triple jump with 9.91m whilst in the 800m Rhys Lloyd broke the two minute barrier for the first time with a 1:58.9 clocking.
