Sisters Melissa and Danielle Bird enjoyed a successful weekend at the Midland Junior Championships in Leicester. Melissa won the under 15 girls discus with a throw of 31.32m whilst also claiming bronze in the shot putt with 9.56m. Competing in the under 20 age group Danielle won the hammer silver medal as she threw a new Cheltenham Harriers under 20 and senior record of 41.87m. Further throws success came from English Schools champion Annabel Sherry who won the under 17 shot with 12.64m and took silver in the discus with 32.67m. A third harriers gold came in the under 15 long jump as Imran Qureshi was just 1cm short of his personal best with 6.21m. In the under 20 300m hurdles Megan Bishop claimed silver in a time of 45.4 seconds whilst Linton Gardiner took under 17 high jump silver with a new personal best height of 1.85m and bronze in the 100m hurdles with a 14.7 clocking. Stephanie Beardsmore showed good form as equalled her pb of 13.0 in the heats of the under 15 100m before going on to place seventh in the final.
