There was a long jump club record for Ian Moore as Cheltenham Harriers under 20 team comfortably won their junior league match at the Prince of Wales stadium to move to the top of the Avon division. Moore took advantage of the favourable wind conditions to win the competition in a new personal best and Harriers under 17 record of 6.65m. Later in the afternoon Moore set a second pb as he placed second in the 110m hurdles in 16.3 seconds. There were also two personal bests for Adam Peachey as he won the 200m in 22.6 and clocked 11.3 for second place in the 100m. Whilst the sprinters enjoyed the strong wind, Dan Owen’s 3000m victory was impressive in conditions unfavourable to distance runners. Owen hit the front from the start and soon dropped his rivals to take the win in a pb of 8:51.9. In contrast, Owen chose to the follow the leader in the 2000m steeplechase before pulling clear on the final lap for a 6:34.7 win. For the women’s team there were victories for Hannah Foward with a 60.2 clocking in the 400m, Beth Hawling with a 5:18.4 in the 1500m and Anna Martin who equalled her personal best with a 1.60m clearance in the high jump.
