Rhys Park and Beth Wynn were the highest placed Cheltenham athletes at the Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships at Cofton Park in Birmingham. In the under 20 men’s race Park put himself in the large lead group which was reduced to 15 by the half-way point of the race. With places in the GB team for the World Championships up for grabs the pace increased on the third and final lap with Park coming in 26th place. In the same age group Beth Wynn put in an excellent performance to finish in 32nd place in the women’s race, with fellow Harriers Mia O’Connell and Beth Hawling placing 59th and 81st respectively.
In the men’s race Dave Roper finished 108th, Jon Barnes showed improved form for 204th, Richard Dare came 216th, Marc Fallows placed 234th and Dave Rantell came home in 270th place. Jane Thomas ran well for 182nd place in the women’s race in which Louise McRitchie placed 210th. In the under 17 boys race Dmitry Nazarenko showed good form ahead of next week English Schools Championship with 63rd place. Similarly Ben Roberts impressed with 60th in the under 13 race in which Oiver Powell placed 197th, Casey Fallows finished 221st and Sam Greenleaf came 282nd. In the under 15 boy’s race George Bygrave came 163rd, Jacob Pickering 203rd, Jasper Greenleaf 238th and Michael Horrocks 254th. Rachel See placed 200th in the under 17 girl’s race and Agata Giles came home 266th in the under 13 girls race.
