Andrew van Kints and Graham Rush posted the fastest times of the day as Cheltenham Harriers won the Gloucestershire Cross Country Relay Championship at Plock Court in Gloucester. Van kints took the opening leg and his time of 9:29 for the 3.05km course gave the Harriers a 47 second lead over rivals Severn AC that Will New extended by two seconds with his 10:21 leg. Elliot Prince then ran 10:25 to hand over to Rush who had a 28 second advantage at the start of the final leg. The Harriers debutant impressed with 9:29 to match van Kints’ fastest leg and extend the winning margin over Severn to 44 seconds. The Harrier B team ran in the third place for the entire race after John Merrett posted the fastest veteran time of the day with 10:18 on the opening leg. Russell Whiting (11:05), James Wilkinson (10:53) and Andy Gore (10:27) maintained position to ensure the county bronze medals. Lee Groenewegen (12:22) and Steve Brown (14:48) ran for the Cheltenham C team that was completed with legs from van Kints (9:37) and New (10:37). Three Harriers ladies competed in a composite team with Emma Meecham-Jones running 13:14 on leg one for the fastest ladies time of the day before handing over to Claire Hawling (14:36) and Sam Pickering (13:59).
