Cheltenham Harriers Sophie Yorke and Mollie Courtney have both been named in the British Athletics team for the IAAF World under 20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Yorke received her call-up to the GB 4 × 100m relay squad after also representing the team this season in the Loughborough International in May and in Mannheim where she also contested the individual 100m. The news of selection couldn’t come at a better time for Yorke as she prepares to celebrate her 18th birthday whilst travelling to Gateshead to compete for Gloucestershire in the English Schools Championships at the weekend. Courtney was already selected for the 100m hurdles following strong performances both indoors and outdoors which places her fifth on the all-time UK under 20 rankings. Her recent performances in the Mannheim Bauhaus Juniorengala in Germany certainly demonstrate her medal potential in Poland as she claimed silver against a strong European field.
