Fazza International, 24/3/13

Fifteen year old Cheltenham Harrier Scott Jones broke the senior men’s F32 discus world record with a throw of 25.06m at the first leg of the newly launched IPC Grand Prix Tour held within the Fazza International in Dubai. Having previously competed in the F37 category this was Jones’ first competition throwing from a wheelchair after losing the loss of his legs in January. The Carolyn Franks coached athlete had the qualifying standard for last summer’s Paralympic Games but was not called up for the team because he was considered too young to compete. He now has his eyes on the IPC World Athletics Championships in Lyon this summer and the Rio 2016 Paralympics.
