Will New led home a large contingent of Cheltenham Harriers at the Winston’s Wish Boxing Day Challenge as he finished in second place at the 4.2mile event held at Cheltenham racecourse. Whilst Stroud’s Ben Coldray won the event and the trophy in memory of former Cheltenham athlete Peter Holmes, New finished clear of clubmate Richard Dare who took third place and fellow Harriers Russell Forsbrook and Richard Evereshed who placed fourth and sixth respectively.

Alex Lee had a week to remember as he claimed two wins in three days at the Cheltenham parkrun. On Christmas Day Lee won his first ever event as he recorded a time of 17:36 on the longer four lap course to finish seven seconds ahead of Severn’s Mark James. He then followed this up with a win in Saturday’s race with a 17:28 victory that saw fellow Harrier Steve Hall take second in 17:50. . Lee’s victories meant ten different Cheltenham Harriers had finished first at the Cheltenham parkrun in 2014 as they claimed 31 first places between them. Hall had also taken third two days earlier in 17:46 when Luke Kearns had placed fifth in 17:53. Matt Evans followed up his eighth place 18:39 on Christmas morning with a fifth place in 18:32 whilst Sue Townsend was fifth lady home in 23:42 at the Christmas run.
