Dan Owen lowered his 10k personal best with an impressive performance at the Eastleigh 10k road race. The Andy Beadle coached runner ran negative splits as he moved up from 31st at the halfway point to finish in 22nd place in a time of 32:24, with teammate Andy Prophett following in 35:16. The previous day Graham Rush finished eighteenth as he represented the Midlands team in the Home International and Inter-Area Cross Country Race held at Nottingham’s Wollaton Park.

Beth Hawling lowered her 5k personal best to 18:20 as she finished as first lady home at the Cardiff parkrun. Harriers filled five of the first six places at the Cheltenham parkrun with Dmitry Nazarenko winning the event for a record eighth time. Matt Evans took third in 17:58 with junior Ben Williams fourth in 18:02. Mike Gray (18:15) and Steve Hall (18:19) completed the top six before youngsters Ben Sluman (21:42) and Sam Greenleaf (22:02) followed. Ellie Hathaway was the second lady home in 22:06, with fellow junior Agata Giles third lady in 22:13 and Tara Sladen completing the course in 23:10. James Wilkinson and Richard Birch finished sixth and fourteenth respectively in the Pendock Spring Chicken 10km multi-terrain race.

Earlier this month Mia O’connell won her first medal at national level, in the 1500m at the England U20 Indoor Championsips at the EIS, Sheffield. In a tactical and at times physical contest she raced well finishing 3rd in a time of 4:44.09. This concluded a successful indoor campaign during which Mia improved her own club U20 indoor records at both 800m and 1500m and finished the season 4th in the UK U20 1500m rankings.
