Dan Owen claimed a bronze medal in the under 23 3000m steeplechase at the England Championships in Bedford. Having an opened up a lead in the early stages of the race, the Andy Beadle coached athlete was passed by Ryan Driscoll (Tonbridge) and Doug Musson (Notts) as they passed the 2km mark in around 6:03. Despite dropping back to fifth overall with a time of 9:13.46, Owen earned another national medal as third runner in his age group. In the under 23 women’s 1500m Mia O’Connell ran well for seventh place as she finished just over half a second outside her personal best in 4:27.74.

Richard Dare enjoyed a win at the White Horse 5k in Gloucester as he led from the start to cross the line in 16:17 for an eleven second victory over Bromsgrove’s Conor Smith. Andy Prophett finished as third veteran in ninth place in 17:55 and James Wilkinson crossed the line in 19:07. There were weekend parkrun wins for Will New in Wetherby in 16:47 and for Graham Rush with 15:56 at the Cheltenham event where Matthew Dwerryhouse and Michael Horrocks recorded 19:33 and 19:59 respectively. Dave Aubrey took fifth spot in the Hereford parkrun in 18:30. Earlier in the week Alex Bampton was just outside his PB with a 2:02.70 over 800m at the Watford Open whilst Mark James clocked 4:53.6 for the mile at the Bristol Open. At the South West Schools Championship Jacob Pickering lowered his 800m PB to 2:04.94 and Rachel Longstaff finished third in the senior girl’s 1500m in 4:55.76.
