Cheltenham Harrier Gavin McCaugherty made a return to form as he claimed a victory in a course record time at the Alderton 5k road race. The 34 year old had a tussle with former Cheltenham athlete Seb Foy before he pulled clear of the Guernsey based athlete after 3km. Crossing the line in 17:05 McCaugherty took nine seconds from the previous course record which Foy equalled as he followed in second place. Richard Birch took seventh place in 19:15. There was also a victory in the Kidlington 5k multi-terrain race for Alex Bampton as he comfortably finished clear of Swindon’s Dan Thomas. The White Horse 5 mile road race in Gloucester saw Andy Prophett finish second in a time of 28:41 with fellow veteran Dave Rantell third in 30:00. Andrew Kaighin recorded 31:06 for fifth place in a race won by Stroud’s Josh Dixon in 26:18. At the Cheltenham parkrun Alex Lee equalled Dmitry Nazarenko’s record of four consecutive wins with a 16:49 victory ahead of teammate Will Woodcock who placed second in 18:20. Steve Hall took fourth in 18:59 before there were personal bests for both Matthew Dwerryhouse and Ben Sluman who clocked 19:06 and 19:10 for sixth and seventh places respectively.
