Disability Athletics Report from Carolyn Franks

Grand Prix at Stoke Mandeville Saturday 11th May 2014

Two athletes who have over the winter been classified experienced their first major competition despite not having their own throwing stools yet. Ed Grazier (F56) was lucky enough to borrow one but it did not have a hold to help him stabilise himself but the benefits were clearly seen with 2m PB on his javelin in cold blustery conditions recording 9.86m while in his shot he suffered from some technical point, which effected his performance only achieving 3.30m. Emma Tow was not so lucky to have a proper throwing stool & was going through a huge learning curve on what is allowed & managed to perform just below her PB’s with Shot 3.90m & Javelin 7.23m.
