Rhys Park set a new Cheltenham Harriers under 20 record as he finished fourth in the 5000m C race at the British Milers Club Grand Prix in Solihull. The nineteen year old ran a mature race, passing 3000m in 8:54 as he moved through the field on his way to a time of 14:53.58 to take over five seconds off Dave Atwood’s 29 year old club record. James Brewer opened his season with second place in the 1500m A race in 3:45.61. With the runners ignoring the pacemaker the field was tightly bunched together as they approached the bell, with Brewer badly boxed on the inside. The Cheltenham athlete managed to pick his way through the field, but was unable to close the gap on Brighton’s Charlie Grice who took the win in 3:45.06. In the 1500m E race James Miller showed good form as he lowered his personal best to 3:58.99 to take sixth place.
