Birmingham Games, 2-3/2/13

There were new Cheltenham Harriers indoor records for Sophie Yorke, Richard Tremblen and Mollie Courtney at the Birmingham Games. Fourteen year old Yorke clocked 7.88 seconds in the under 17 girl’s 60m to set a new senior club record as well as lowering the under 17 and under 20 marks. Her time also places her twelfth in the UK under 17 rankings for the year. In the men’s 200m Tremblen followed up his recent club 60m record by lowering his indoor personal best to 22.24 as he took 0.06 from Simon Plaskitt’s 2004 Harriers record. There was also an under 17 club record for Courtney as she took victory in the 60m hurdles in 8.82 to move up to second in the UK rankings as she lowered her own record by 0.21 seconds.

In the women’s 1500m Julia Cooke followed up her silver at the Welsh Championship with another second place as she lowered her personal best to 4:28.72 to take three quarters of a second from her 2010 outdoor mark. In the men’s 200m Michael Gardiner impressed with a 23.27 clocking as he moved to the top of the UK over 40 ranking lists. Annabel Sherry placed third in the women’s shot with 11.61m whilst vet 55 athlete Jane Horder was also in action as she ran 47.79 in the 300m. In the under 20 age group Emily Pascoe placed third in the 60m hurdles as she lowered her pb to 9.30 seconds. Lauren Oswald ran an indoor pb of 27.20 and Harriet Sawle clocked 26.96 in the 200m, Rhys Lloyd won his 800m race in 2:00.08 and Charlotte Williamson clocked 63.78 in the 400m.

In the under 17 age group Anna Martin cleared 1.55m for third in the high jump and Imran Qureshi placed fourth on the long jump with 5.89m and. In the 300m races Megan Bishop’s 42.54 seconds was the fifth fastest time whilst Bethan Skuse set a pb of 44.67. Ben Clarke showed good form with a pb of 7.66 seconds in the 60m and an indoor best time of 23.77 in the 200m. In the same events Jack Lightfoot set pbs of 7.78 and 24.46 respectively whilst Georgina Gordon clocked 27.44 in the girl’s 200m. In the under 15 age group there was a win for Nathaniel Hatherley group as he recorded 9.54 in the 60m hurdles.
